Italy's renovation incentive system is primarily tax-credit based. The headline scheme — Superbonus — has been reduced from its original 110% to 65% in 2026, but remains one of Europe's most generous programs. It works alongside the Ecobonus (65% tax credit for energy efficiency) and Bonus Casa (50% credit for general renovations). The tax credits are deducted over 4-10 years, but can also be transferred to banks or contractors through the 'cessione del credito' mechanism.
Available to property owners, usufructuaries, tenants, and condominiums. Superbonus requires at least a 2-class improvement in energy rating. Ecobonus and Bonus Casa have simpler requirements based on work type.
Update frequency: Rates change with each government budget law (Legge di Bilancio), typically announced in December for the following year.
